Through questioning the image Yesmine Ben Khelil tries to evoke the reality, assuming that the only certainty of reality uncertainty and non-sense is. With the goal of overcoming clichés, she develops a world of speculative characters gained from archives and internet research. By processing the pictures with ink, crayon, pastel or other techniques, she questions the reality or truth of what is depicted.
Yesmine Ben Khelil participated at the Round Table „On the Significance of Artist Residences“ and at the exhibition CARREFOUR DES POSSIBLES at the Parallel Vienna 2018.
Born in 1986 in Tunis, Yesmine Ben Khelil now lives and works there as well. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Art Studies from the Université Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne.
