artist residencies

Férielle Doulain-Zouari

06/09 – 27/09/2020

“It seems to me that one of the specificities of the Philomena residency is the challenge it sets to its resident artists: to develop in less than three weeks a duo work in a precise context, with an artist we meet the day we arrive and a place we discover at the time of installation! We are encouraged to surpass and surprise ourselves, this generates a very strong moment of creativity.”

Férielle Doulain-Zouari (*Paris in 1992, lives and works in Tunis). After graduating in Textile Studies at ESAA Duperré and ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres in Paris, she developed a special interest in the field of arts & crafts with the result that her work today (sculptures, 3D weavings and in-situ installations) demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship. It is inspired by the world of mass consumption and mass market, by the circulation of low-range goods, and at the same time by the resourcefulness of systems used to deal with daily life. Her workshop goes on the road according to the opportunities that open up, and where she finds the right craftspeople with whom to collaborate.

Férielle Doulain-Zouari has exhibited her work in Tunisia, France, Chile, Algeria and in Burkina Faso on the occasion of the Biennial of Sculpture of Ouagadougou.
Together with her Viennese buddy-artist Bárbara Palomino-Ruiz she prepared the project statement for philomena+ at Parallel Vienna 2020.
