mirror sculpture by Michael Baumgartner, visual artist
performer: Omid Darvish, singer
sound design: Reza Tavakoli
performances: daily at 8:30 am and 4:30 am
Venue: Hauptbahnhof Wien, main hall, at the entrance from the Südtirolerplatz
In order to facilitate the encounter between strangers, Michael Baumgartner has been creating interactive mirror sculptures for some years.
On three days in October 2019 the sculpture “GoGo”! will be placed in the hall of the Hauptbahnhof Wien and Omid Darvish will give a performance by standing in it. The strong voice of the Iranian-Kurdish singer will improvise to the hurrying of the rushing people and the soundscape of the train station. Travellers are invited to approach and step on a little platform behind the performer. Through a little window the spectators’s gaze is directed through a sophisticated array of mirrors, scans the moving body and finally looks into the eyes of the performer. This generates a surprising closeness between two persons, who do not know each other yet.
