SENSE OF TOUCH III report & research restults

In April 2025 Ava Binta Giallo and Verena Schneider completed a one-month residency in Gabes, Tunisia, which was organised by our long-standing partner institution La Boîte. At the end, they presented resulted works at Musée d’Art et Traditions Populaires Sidi Boulbaba as part of the Gabès Cinema Fen Festival.

Now, after their return to Vienna, Ava Binta Giallo and Verena Schneider happily share their experiences, artistic research results with the Viennese audience.

Guided meditative physical exercises will tune in the subsequent presentation by the artists. Ava Binta Giallo and Verena Schneider will talk about their encounter with the new environment and investigation with local materials.
The installation with sculptures, videos and paintings in the philomena+ project space, on display until July 1, reflects the dialogue between the two artists and their individual practices in Gabes. 

The Sense of Touch project started in Vienna in September 2024 with a residency at philomena+ and two collaborative exhibitions with the artists Younes Ben Slimane, Ava Binta Giallo and Verena Schneider.

Every year, since 2018, La Boîte & philomena+ carry out the ongoing project series Carrefour des Possibles that includes a residency and collaborative art projects with artists from Tunisia and Austria.
