artist residency

Najah Zarbout

28/08-21/09/2025

“A notable feature is that the residency begins remotely, with monthly meetings beforehand. This allowed me to get a clear idea of the place I was going to land in and to feel right at home from the moment I arrived.”

Najah Zarbout (*1979 in Medenine, lives and works in Sousse, Tunisia)

Najah Zarbout’s work explores the tensions of the contemporary world, tackling themes linked to current affairs, society and the individual. Her work questions human submission, disobedience and resilience, while inviting us to reflect on their manifestations in our environment. Her artistic practice takes a variety of forms, from drawing to video and installation, with a focus on ecology. Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Tunisia and abroad (Cape Town, France, Switzerland, Belgium, UAE, Morocco, Algeria, Kuwait, etc.).

In Vienna Najah Zarbout collaborated with the environmental activist Isa Klee. They developed together the interactive exhibition project Solastalgies.
