Patrick Timm was guest artist in a camp for refugees in Berlin, and set up a post office there. During his residency, which took place in 2022, the artist put down his smartphone and wrote only postcards. Through the subsequent incoming mail a remarkable collection of written correspondence forms was built. In the end, he slipped into the role of the postman and personally delivered a letter from a refugee to his parents in Southern Iran. 

philomena+ invited Patrick Timm to present the Poststelle collection as part of philomena+’s contribution to the exhibition Über das Neue Wiener Szenen und darüber hinaus at Belvedere 21.

PATRICK TIMM

was born in Pinneberg near Hamburg in 1979. He first obtained a masters certificate in roof carpentry before enrolling at the Art Academy in Weißensee in Berlin. Patrick Timm works site-specific, deals with the found environment and develops his artistic works on the basis of research results. His work offers utopias, presents visionary scenarios and makes suggestions for positive changes. Patrick Timm took also part at the philomena+ project PraterSternStunden.
